In a decisive operation Saturday, November 18, 2023, Ogun State Police apprehended two notorious cultists, Oduyiga Seyi Samson and Gbenga Adegoke, members of the Buccaneer and Eiye confraternity.

Both confessed to their involvement in the outlawed secret cults during police interrogation and contrary to online speculations, Ogun State Police Command vehemently has denied allegations of torture leading to Seyi’s death.

The police emphasize their commitment to upholding fundamental human rights laws, with strict adherence to protocols that prohibit cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment of suspects.

Seyi, who was charged for cult-related activities, was scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, November 23,2023. However, the court session did not proceed, and he was returned to Eleweran in Abeokuta,  Ogun State capital.
On Friday, November 24, Seyi exhibited erratic behavior in the cell, necessitating medical attention but despite efforts, he succumbed to his condition while undergoing treatment.Ogun
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, clarified the events and assured the public that an autopsy report will be released soon, providing further details.
Meanwhile,  Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha has also extend his condolences to the deceased’s family, emphasizing a commitment to transparency in handling the case.
