The Imo State Police Command is currently investigating a disturbing video circulating on social media, wherein a nursing mother, identified as Mrs. Ogechi Eze, alleges she and her children were assaulted by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping unit, known as Tiger Base.
Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has swiftly responded to the allegations by ordering the immediate arrest and detention of the implicated officers. He has tasked the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command’s X-Squad and Provost to ensure that appropriate sanctions are applied if the officers are found guilty, in line with the Force’s regulations.
In an effort to facilitate the investigation, the Command has urged Mrs. Ogechi to report to the Police Public Relations Department at Command Headquarters in Owerri to assist in identifying the officers involved.
CP Aboki Danjuma emphasizes that the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct, including arrest by proxy, assault, or incivility towards members of the public. He assures that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against any officer found infringing on the rights of citizens, whom the police are constitutionally mandated to serve and protect.
The Commissioner assures the public that further updates on the case will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
