The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has applauded the commendable efforts of police officers and operatives from various security agencies in ensuring the security of elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.
The IGP expressed satisfaction with the commitment and diligence displayed by security operatives, describing their efforts as highly productive.
According to the Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Inspector General of Police highlighted the seamless transpiration of the electoral process in the three states, defying earlier threat assessments and challenges. He commended the exceptional work of security personnel in maintaining law and order, safeguarding the electoral process, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
However, the IGP acknowledged isolated incidents during the elections and directed the Electoral Offences Desk Officers, under the supervision of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, to initiate immediate investigations into these incidents.
The IGP expressed gratitude to all security agencies involved in election security management, urging officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Emphasizing adherence to guidelines, the rule of law, and standard operating procedures, he called for continued commitment to building a more secure democratic institution in Nigeria.
