Ogun State Police Command on the 20th of March 2022 arrested a housewife and mother of five (5) for pouring petrol on her ten (10)-year-old daughter and set her ablaze.
Aisha Tijani was arrested after a complaint was lodged at Mowe police divisional headquarters by one Moroof Ayinde, a co-tenant, that she had poured petrol on her little daughter and set her ablaze.
Ayine told police that the woman was angry because the little girl gave a phone she seized from one of her older children back to him.
DPO Mowe Division, CSP Folashade Tanaruno quickly moved to the scene with detectives and got the suspect arrested. The victim, who had been badly burnt was rushed to the nearest hospital from where she was referred to Olabisi Onabanjo teaching hospital for proper medical attention.
Upon interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been separated from the father of the children, explained to the police that she didn’t know what came over her to have set her own child ablaze.
In same vein, operatives of Ogun state police command also arrested two suspected armed robbers who snatched a motorcycle and subsequently killed the rider.
In a statement made available to FASNEWS by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects, Hammed Ismail and Osoba Yakubu were apprehended following a report lodged at Sango Divisional headquarters by one Buhari Saliu, who reported that his twenty-five (25)-year-old son, Yusuf Buhari who left home with his motorcycle a day before was found dead in an uncompleted building at Araromi Village via Ilogbo town, and his motorcycle is nowhere to be found.
“Upon the report, the DPO Sango Ota Division, SP Saleh Dahiru, detailed his detectives to the scene where the corpse was evacuated and handed over to the family who insisted on burying him according to their religious belief.
“Determined to unravel the the mystery behind the gruesome murder of the victim, the DPO and his men embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation, and in conjunction with the community vigilante and so safe corps, Ismail Hammed was arrested with the motorcycle of the victim.
“His arrest led to the apprehesion of his accomplice Osoba Yakubu.They have confessed to the commission of the crime and are helping the police in their investigation.
CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
