The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos has apprehended four suspects linked to a complex web of criminal activities. The operation, led by FCID operatives attached to the X-Squad, was prompted by a complaint from Mrs. Shonekan Rukayat Mojisola regarding the falsification of police character certificates and other fraudulent activities.
The suspects, identified as Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi (35), Sebastine Olamide (21), Shittu Babatunde (25), and Bilal Yekeen (25), were taken into custody following a thorough investigation. A raid on their premises at NO 267 Igbosere Road, off Obalende Area, Lagos Island, yielded a trove of incriminating evidence, including fake police character certificates, medical reports, international driving permits, and forged official documents.
The investigation uncovered a sophisticated criminal racket involved in issuing counterfeit police character certificates, which led to the imposition of a 10-year ban on Mrs. Shonekan after she unwittingly presented a fake certificate at the UK Embassy. The suspects confessed to supplying forged documents to numerous individuals, implicating them in a wide-ranging fraud scheme.
