attackNo fewer than seven (7) farmers including a nursing mother have been killed by gunmen who stuck and abducted 30 people in an attack of three (3) communities in Katsina state.

A Lawmaker representing the area, where the unfortunate incidence occurred, at the state house of Assembly, honorable Ibrahim Danjuma Machika, who confirmed the killing on the floor of the house during the plenary session on Monday, November 30, 2020, also noted that about 30 other villagers were abducted during the attack, while sponsoring a motion on the need to reinforce security in some of the villages in his constituency, said the incident happened at the weekend in broad daylight.

The communities attacked are Tashar Bama, Dogun Muazu, and Unguwar Maigayya villages of Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Information gathered, has it that the attack happened barely hours after members of the dreaded Boko Haram beheaded over forty (40) farmers in Zabarmari village, Jere Local government area of Borno State.

“Our people now live in fear as the gangsters now carry out attacks in our villages in broad daylight. They kill people, cart away properties, and kidnap as many people as they can and demand frivolous ransoms before they are release while some unfortunate ones lose their lives in the process.

“There is no day, bandits don’t attack one community or another and the people no longer sleep in their houses for fear of being the next victim.” Machina said.

Also, members representing Dutsinma constituency, Mohammed Khamis, and Safana constituency, Abduljalal Haruna Runka, stated that attack by the bandits in communities in the state needs government urgent attention.

Katsina State House of Assembly Speaker, Honorable Tasiu Zango in lieu of the situation, has directed that the Clerk of the House forward the position of the members on the need to reinforce security in parts of the communities to the Governor of the state.
