In collaboration with Foundation For Resilience And Empowerment Development (FRED), the Ministry Of Women Affairs Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) and Lagos State Ministry Of Youth And Social Development (MYSD) organised a two-day Training capacity building for civil society organisations (CSO’s) and nongovernmental organisations (NGO’s) on gender based violence (GBV), data collection and how to report entry On National dashboard.
The training commenced on April 27, 2023 with WAPA Permanent Secretary, Mrs Yewande Kalesanwo‘s opening address to stakeholders at WAPA conference room, Alausa Secretariat,Ikeja Lagos.
Mrs Kalesanwo who appreciated everyone in attendance for their relentless fight against all forms of Gender Based Violence in Lagos State, spoke on the importance of data collection saying everyone is important in the reporting procedure.
“We’re all to work together as Gender Equality Advocates and Lagos State Government is keying in to the Equity to meet victims in need.” PS WAPA pointed out.
She also encouraged FRED to continue training as to improve reporting on the National dashboard.
Objectives of the training was presented by Mrs Ayodele Gbeminiyi (DPRS) who spoke on the reason some organisations stopped sending reports, adding that the ministry will like to also know why some organisations are inactive on the National Dashboard. She also requestrd for the upgrading of tools for reporting on the National Dashboard.
Mrs. Ayodele stated further that reporting at the National & State levels will help the vocal organisations to take charge on reporting by capturing data on dashboard to ensure quality data improvement.
ACVPN and five (5) other Agencies were among the six (6) organizations that were confirmed to be active among the fifty-six (56) organizations captured on the National Dashboard.
Representing advocate for women and vulnerable persons network (ACVPN) at the training were Comrade Aderemi Blessing and Comrade Harmony Itachie.
The training ended with the organizers encouraging CSOs/NGOs to report cases regularly to enable the state give accurate analysis and reporting at both Federal& State levels.
