The PDP Candidate for Lagos state East Senatorial district by-election, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, after voting at his Polling Unit 04, Ward 01, Allyson via Ogunsanya Street in Ikorodu told journalists who were there to witness him cast his vote, that one of the hindrances debarring the progress of democracy is violence.
The PDP candidate mentioned that the late start of vote casting and the low turn out of voters was worrisome and appealed to registered voters in the senatorial district to come out and vote for candidates of their choices, adding that the elections and vote casting are opportunities to choose their choice of representatives that would serve the people’s interests.
While responding to journalist, Gbadamosi described the situation at his polling unit as calm but said he was disturbed by reports of violence he got from some areas.
“It has been calm in my unit and my area so far but I heard there were some act of violence in some other parts of Ikorodu and believe me, these are some of the things we need to put an end to if we want democracy to develop. We need to end thuggery,” he said.
