Ogun State Police Detectives on March 24,2023, arrested one of the suspects who abducted a journalist, Oduneye Olusegun at Mobalufon area of Ijebu Ode on March 9, 2023.
The suspect, 41-years-old Temidayo Oladimeji was arrested following painstaking technical and intelligence based investigation embarked upon by SP Taiwo Opadiran led anti kidnapping team from Obalende police division.
The investigation according to Ogun State Police image maker, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, led detectives to the suspect’s hideout where he has been hibernating.
It will be recalled that a journalist, Oduneye Olusegun was abducted by three (3) gunmen at Mobalufon area of Ijebu Ode recently consequence upon which policemen attached to Obalende divisional headquarters traced the kidnappers to Idimu area of Lagos, where they engaged the hoodlums in gun battle, the kidnappers took to their heels with serious gunshot injuries when they realised that the police were about to overpower them, abandoning the kidnapped journalist victim and his car.
Having rescued the journalist, the Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba ordered a massive manhunt for the fleeing suspects, and in compliance with the CP’s directive, one of the suspects, Temidayo Oladimeji who confessed to have been the one detailed to guard the kidnapped journalist in the bush while the two (2) others waited waiting for the ransome.
Oladimeji also confessed that he immediately abandoned their victim and ran away when he discovered that his other colleagues had been injured. Luck however ran against him when he was traced to his hideout in Ijebu-ode where he was apprehended.
Recovered from him is a locally made pistol and a live cartridge.
“Efforts to get the remaining members of the gang arrested is ongoing”, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said after confirming the arrest.
