Robbery Suspect Killed In A Gun Battle With Police In Ogun

An armed robbery suspect was on the Sunday, December 6, 2020 killed by men of Ogun State Police Command along Shagamu/ Ikenne expressway during a shootout.

The robber met his Waterloo when a distress call was made to the police at ikenne divisional police headquarters that a group of armed robbery gang were operating between Adelex petrol station and Ladgroup company along the expressway, dispossessing people of their valuables at gun point.

According to information, upon the distress call, DPO Ikenne police division, CSP Ndoukauba Onuma mobilized his patrol team and personnel of the 71 Police Mobile Force (PMF) to the scene and on sighting the policemen, the armed robbers engaged the officers in gun battle consequent upon which one of the robbers was shot dead while other robbery suspects escaped into the bush with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

Recovered from the robbery scene are, a fake gun, a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNN 84 TD which was discovered to have been snatched from the owner with the purpose of carrying out their robbery operation.

The commissioner of police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun while assuring the good people of the state of the command’s determination, more than ever, to ensure their safety at all time, especially as we are approaching the Yuletide season, expressed satisfaction on the quick response of his men to the distress call and has ordered a massive manhunt for the escaped members of the gang.

He also appealed to the general public especially hospitals and traditional healers to notify the police if they sight anybody with gunshot injury in their area.
