The Police Service Commission has announced the appointment of four new Commissioners of Police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom state commands, following the recent promotion of senior officers.
The newly appointed commissioners are Isah Danladi Nda for Abia State, Olarewaju Ishola Olawale for Lagos, Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya for Ebonyi, and Miller Gajere Dantawaye for Akwa Ibom.
According to fasnewsng.com, the appointments were approved by the PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, who emphasized the need for immediate action in managing the security challenges within their respective states. Argungu stressed that the Commission would closely monitor the performance of the new Commissioners, urging them to “hit the ground running” and ensure the safety of citizens.
The Chairman highlighted that these appointments reflect PSC’s commitment to building a competitive, competent, and efficient police force across Nigeria. He noted that the new Commissioners are expected to bring about significant improvements in security management and service delivery in their commands.
In a statement signed by Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to PSC, the appointments have already been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
DIG Argungu encouraged the new Commissioners to view their appointments as a call to serve their country with greater dedication and commitment, assuring them of the PSC’s continued support.
The new appointees take over the reins of security in these critical states amid heightened expectations to address existing challenges and improve the overall effectiveness of law enforcement.
