Lagos State Police has arrested one Jemila Ibrahim, a19 year old lady and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, 21 years old for setting ablaze the house of one Yusuf Mohammed and his girlfriend, Rabi who resides at Monkey Village, Lagos State on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 5.30pm.
Yusuf Mohammed, an ex-lover to Jemila was said to have rushed to his house when he was hinted via a phone call by a neighbor that his house was on fire.
Unfortunately, Mohammed could only rescue his girlfriend who was trapped in his room and despite rushing her to the hospital, eventually gave up the ghost on Saturday, November, 2020, around 12: 00pm.
Mohammed was said to have alleged his former lover, Ibrahim Jemila of infidelity before they finally broke up and he later met and fell in love with his new lover, Rabi that was caught up in the inferno and died days after.
The duo of Fatimo, who accompanied Jemila, her friend to commit the heinous crime were arrested by police operatives attached to the Satellite Division of the command.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the crime, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State CID, Panti, for discreet investigation. The Police boss also vowed to go after those who engage in crimes and social vices in order to get Lagos State rid of criminals and criminality.
He nevertheless, encouraged Lagosians to shun taking laws into their hands, noting that jungle justice will only truncate the administration of justice and such could be counterproductive.
