The Nigeria Police Force has successfully apprehended 130 suspects, including 113 foreign nationals, primarily of Chinese and Malaysian origin, alongside 17 Nigerian collaborators, for their alleged involvement in sophisticated cybercrimes, hacking, and activities threatening national security.
This strategic and high-stakes operation unfolded on Saturday, November 3, 2024, through a meticulously coordinated raid at a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jabi, Abuja, where the suspects were reportedly using advanced computer systems and other high-tech devices to orchestrate cybercriminal activities.

The operation was led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Benneth Igweh of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, and included officers from both the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC). The combined forces uncovered an extensive setup of digital equipment and secured substantial evidence to assist in dismantling the operations of this transnational syndicate.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, assured the public that ongoing investigations and scientific analysis of the recovered exhibits will enable authorities to proceed with formal charges. “We are investigating the matter and scientifically analyzing the exhibits recovered from them. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of our investigations,” he stated, emphasizing the Force’s commitment to a thorough investigation and promising to keep the public informed as developments unfold.
This significant crackdown is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s intensified efforts to curb cybercrime and safeguard national security against international syndicates exploiting advanced technologies. The arrests of these 130 individuals mark a crucial step in the fight against cybercrime in Nigeria, highlighting the increased collaboration between local authorities and international cybercrime monitoring agencies.
