Lagos socialite, Ms Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl has been sentenced to twenty-seven (27) months in prison for distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as a souvenir at a party.

She was sentenced by a Special Offences  Mobile Court sitting at the premises of the State Task Office in Oshodi yesterday,Friday, 25th March,2022.

Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare, who handed down the verdict, held that the prosecution had successfully proven the charges against the defendant beyond all reasonable doubts.

The defendant, Ms Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl was earlier arraigned on 14th of March, 2022 for the offence of distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as a souvenir during her installation party on 4th of March, 2022 at Havilah Event Centre, Lagos. PMS

The offence, the prosecutor insisted, was contrary to section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of Lagos State 2017.

Magistrate Ogundare, in her judgement, sentenced the convict to three (3) months imprisonment on the first count with an option of N15,000.

The judge also sentenced her to one-year imprisonment each on counts 2 and 3 with an option of a fine of N500, 000 each.

The Lagos state government had, thereafter,  sealed Havilah Event Centre, where the party was held, for contravening public safety rules.

Subsequently, Pearl apologised for sharing petrol souvenirs, adding that her intent was to appreciate her guests.
