Ondo State government in a statement made available by the commissioner for information, Donald Ojogo said it is greatly troubled by the unfortunate passing away of Olufon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi who was gunned down by yet to be identified gunmen along Akure – Benin road on Thursday, November 26, 2020 while declaring also, that the state is having a serious security predicament beyond the ordinary.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu with some of his top government officials had also visited Ifon Community to commiserate with the people over the loss of their monarch.
The governor has also directed that security agencies, especially the Police, fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Also, Monarchs in the Akoko Area Of Ondo state have described the monarch’s gruesome killing as a crime against the traditional institution and called for a total overhaul of the state’s security apparatus to check the continuous kidnappings and killings in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, Oba Adebori Adeleye of Oka land said killing a traditional ruler was abominable and urged security agents to fish out the killers of Adeusi in no time.
Oba Adeleye who was in attendance at the council of Obas meeting where the late Olufon also went and was returning from before his untimely death, described Adeusi as an easy going and highly intelligent personality.
Gunmen have assassinated the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi, in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
A relative of the monarch confirmed this on Thursday.
Oba Adeusi ascended the throne about twenty – three (23) years ago and was in his 60s before he met his untimely death. His corpse, it was learnt, has been deposited to the Federal Medical Centre.
The late Monarch was said to be on his way from the council of Obas meeting in Akure in his official car around 4:30pm when he was accosted and allegedly assassinated by gunmen.
