In a significant breakthrough, the Divisional Police Officer of Igbeba Division has apprehended a notorious suspect, Olayemi Olawale Shedrack, aged 33, who has been on the run for his involvement in armed robbery and sexual assault.
Acting on a tip-off, Shedrack was spotted attempting to blend in with the crowd in Ijagun, but his true identity was verified through intelligence sources. The swift action of the police led to his immediate arrest. According to reports, Shedrack is the primary suspect in an armed robbery and rape incident that occurred on July 21, 2024, at the Royal Villa accommodation area of Tai University of Education, Ijagun.
During the crime, Shedrack and his accomplices forcibly entered the female students’ hostel, stealing valuable items, including laptops, iPhones, sports watches, and cash. Tragically, the assailants also committed acts of sexual assault before fleeing the scene, leaving the students in distress.

Shedrack has been taken into custody at the Igbeba police station, where a preliminary investigation has been launched. He is expected to be transferred to Ogun State Police Command Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, psc, has expressed confidence in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining accomplices. He urged residents of Ijagun and its environs to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing criminals.
Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola anipr, reassured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining safety across Ogun State.
