In a landmark press briefing held on November 1, 2024, at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamu presented updates on recent achievements by the Command, particularly in combating high-profile kidnapping syndicates terrorizing the state.

CP Abiodun Alamu confirmed the successful arrests of multiple suspects involved in a string of kidnapping incidents that plagued the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode axis and other areas between May and September 2024.

The police investigation, spearheaded by the anti-kidnapping unit, led to the capture of a seven-member kidnapping gang responsible for numerous abductions. Among the principal suspects paraded were Azeez Abolaji Alese (42), identified as the syndicate’s leader, and six accomplices. CP Alamu detailed their crime spree, which included the abductions of local residents, theft of vehicles, and demands for ransom. Alese, who had been previously arrested for similar offenses, returned to criminal activities following his release on bail in April 2024.
