The Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 8, Lokoja, AIG Yunana Babas is dead. He died just three (3) days after death snatched his colleague, AIG Omololu Bishi in Lagos.
The Acting Public Relations officer for the zone, Inspector Ruth Awi confirmed Babas death to fasnews in Lokoja, Niger state. She stated further that the late AIG, who was due for retirement in two(2) weeks died at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, around 10:30 am on January 14, 2021.
According to Awi, the late AIG Babas was in the office on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 to attend to his official duty up till noon and later left for his house without any sign of illness and sent the zones photographer to come to his house for a photoshoot.
Awi explained that the photographer came back to the office to inform them that he could not take any photograph because the AIG had suddenly fallen sick.
Based on this information, Awi said that they visited Babas in his house from where they took him to the police clinic at New Layout area in Lokoja.
She said that the health of the AIG instead of improving started deteriorating, a development which made them rush him to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
“We were all outside praying and hoping that he would come out when it was announced to us that Babas didn’t make it and has passed on ,” Awi said sadly.
