The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed Rasheed Bolarinwa, President of the Association of Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB), as Chairman of its newly established Management Committee for FinanceHub.
This announcement, reported by fasnewsng.com, marks a significant step by the NIPR to strengthen public relations practices within Nigeria’s finance sector. The FinanceHub committee will focus on banking, insurance, and pensions, aiming to promote sustainable PR practices across these industries.
Rasheed Bolarinwa brings extensive experience from his career in journalism, public relations, and the financial sector to this new role. Currently, he serves as the Head of Brand Management and Corporate Communication at Polaris Bank. His re-election as President of ACAMB in January 2024, after serving two terms as Secretary-General, underscores his leadership and expertise in corporate and marketing communications within the banking sector. As Chairman of the FinanceHub committee, Bolarinwa will be joined by other appointees from the maritime and aviation sectors, who will work collaboratively to advance PR practices in their respective fields.
The NIPR has also appointed chairpersons for other newly created sectoral hubs. Mrs. Thelma Okoh has been appointed to lead the Maritime Hub, Dr. Jossy Nkwocha will head the Energy Hub, and Mr. Basil Agboarumi will chair the Aviation Hub. Additional appointments include Dr. Ahmad Sajoh, who will head the Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, and Miss Chimdi Neliaku, who will lead the Young Practitioners Hub. The nomination letters for these appointments were signed by Uzoma Onyegbadue, Registrar and Secretary to the NIPR Governing Council.
The creation of these sectoral hubs by the NIPR is designed to promote sustainable and effective public relations practices across various sectors of the economy. During the inauguration ceremony for the Chairmen and Committee Members of the Sectoral Hubs, NIPR National President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, praised the qualifications of the appointees. He emphasized that their appointments reflect the confidence and trust that the NIPR council has in their expertise and commitment to advancing the objectives of the respective hubs.
Dr. Neliaku, along with other members of the governing council, pledged full support to the newly appointed chairpersons and their teams. “We look forward, with excitement, to working together with you all to make a positive impact on sustainable and viable public relations practices in the respective sectoral hubs in Nigeria,” he stated.
The NIPR’s initiative to establish these sectoral hubs represents a proactive effort to ensure the growth and development of public relations as a profession in Nigeria, as reported by fasnewsng.com.
