MainaJustice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, November 23, 2020, has ordered that former Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Ali Ndume be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre for his inability to produce the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina.

The embattled lawmaker stood surety for Alhaji Maina who has jumped bail in respect of his ongoing N2bn money laundering trial.

Justice Abang held that having failed to produce Maina, who is believed to have jumped bail and having failed to show reason(s) on  why his bail bond should not be forfeited, ordered that Ndume who was looking askance in court should only be released if he meets the laid down conditions.

The conditions are that he pays N500m bail bond into the Federation Account of the Federal Government and present evident of such payment in court, the FG sell the property situated in Asokoro, Abuja which Ndume had pledged as security for the bond and present evidence of sale and payment of the N500m realized into the Federation Account or he (Ndume) produces Maina, who is believed to have jumped bail.
