The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Borno State following the recent devastating flood disaster that has displaced thousands of residents and caused extensive damage to properties.

The flood, which has left large parts of Maiduguri and other major areas in Borno submerged, has triggered widespread humanitarian concerns and calls for urgent relief measures.
In his message of condolence to the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Marwa, a former Military Governor of the old Borno State, empathized with the governor, the Shehu of Borno, His Highness Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, and the affected residents. He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies and solidarity, noting that the people of Borno are not alone in this challenging time. “I will like to assure Governor Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, the affectees, and indeed the good people of Borno State that they are not alone at this difficult time. Our prayers and sympathies are with them as we continue to pray that the flood will recede quickly and the people will return to their daily life and activities,” Marwa stated.Borno State

He expressed his respect and admiration for their dedication to saving lives and alleviating suffering, urging them to continue their tireless work in ensuring the safety and well-being of the displaced residents.
The devastating flood has reportedly submerged 70 percent of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following the overflow of the Alau Dam after torrential rainfall. Among the affected areas are significant landmarks such as the palace of the Shehu of Borno, the state secretariat, post office, cemetery, Lagos area, Bulabulin, Gwange, Monday market, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and Kofar Shehu.
