The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the passing of Mrs. Zainab Joy Momodu, the Acting Head of Mission (Chargé d’Affaires ad interim) at the Embassy of Nigeria in Guinea-Bissau, describing her death as a significant loss to the nation and its diplomatic community.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Mrs. Momodu died at the Military Hospital in Bissau on Monday, July 7, 2025, following a brief illness.
A respected career diplomat, Mrs. Zainab Joy Momodu joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2010 and was a member of the 20th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy.
