The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has again demonstrated its exceptional leadership in traffic governance and road safety enforcement, clinching the Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Award 2025 as the State Traffic Management Agency of the Year.
The prestigious honor, conferred after a rigorous nationwide nomination and online voting process, reaffirms LASTMA’s position as Nigeria’s foremost traffic management institution. It stands as a glowing testament to the Authority’s unwavering dedication to operational excellence, innovation, and the creation of a safe and efficient traffic environment across Lagos State.
The Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit and Awards 2025, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, attracted an eminent gathering of policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders from across the country. The event served as a hub for thought leadership, knowledge exchange, and the celebration of institutions whose interventions continue to shape Nigeria’s transport and logistics ecosystem.
Receiving the award on behalf of the General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, LASTMA’s Director of Logistics and Transport, Mr. Jubril Oshodi, expressed deep appreciation to the organizers and the voting public for recognizing the agency’s consistent efforts to maintain traffic order, safeguard lives, and promote disciplined motoring within Lagos.
Mr. Oshodi dedicated the award to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose visionary leadership and sustained investments in modern transport infrastructure have been instrumental in LASTMA’s success. He also commended the top management team and the Ministry of Transportation, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Permanent Secretary, for their unwavering guidance and strategic direction.
In his post-award remarks, Mr. Bakare-Oki described the recognition as both a distinguished honor and a renewed call to service, pledging that LASTMA would continue to raise the bar in professionalism, discipline, and innovation.
“We are more determined than ever to harness technology, build human capacity, and strengthen partnerships to meet the growing challenges of traffic management in Lagos,” he stated.
The summit featured contributions from distinguished figures such as the Honorable Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, and the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, both of whom applauded the strides of state and federal agencies in transforming Nigeria’s mobility and logistics systems.
LASTMA’s recognition as State Traffic Management Agency of the Year reaffirms its role as a benchmark for operational efficiency and an inspiration for other state traffic management institutions nationwide. It also highlights Lagos State’s leadership in pioneering sustainable and technology-driven transport reforms within Africa’s largest megacity.
