In continuation of the command’s renewed tactical skills to combat crimes in Lagos state, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, launched another phase of weapons and combat training for the members of the rank and file in order to be in tandem with the ongoing similar training for the One Hundred and Ten (110) Divisional Police Officers in the state.
The Police boss also promised to extend the training session to Heads of Departments and Sectional Heads in the command as all hands must be on deck to beef up security in Lagos State.
The training, which is being carried out at various camps in the state, has an outline designed to include legal studies in order to boost the personnel’s expertise in legal proceedings, human rights and general criminal laws in line with the international practices.
Premised on this and in total compliance with the directive and anti crime strategies of the Commissioner of Police, the police operatives attached to the Area D Command, Mushin, on Monday, May 17, 2021, arrested one 30-years-old Nwugo Oforuike, an alleged member of Aiye confratanity who hails from Imo State, with one locally-made pistol, one live cartridge, one car key, one infinix hot 8 light phone, one neck chain and one iron rod.
In the same vein, the police operatives attached to Ojo Division of the Lagos State Police Command, on same Monday, May 17, 2021, around 6:00am, arrested a suspected serial House Breaker, 34-years-old Marcus Ikechukwu, a resident of Karabosowa, Ojo, Alaba, Lagos. He alleged to have been terrorising and breaking into people’s house at Ikotun, Igando, Surulere and other places within the State.
The suspect has confessed to the crime that he has broken into many houses in Surulere, Igando and Ikotun areas of Lagos State.
Again, the police team on patrol at Alaba International Market, Lagos, intercepted one green T4 bus and upon search, some suspected stolen items were recovered. The items include one large cutter for breaking into houses and three (3) big generators.
Similarly, the same police operatives attached to Ojo Division on 17th May, 2021, around 10:30pm, arrested two (2) suspected traffic robbers/House Breakers at TIV Yam Market, off Lagos/Badagry Expressway, Alaba Rago, Ojo.
The suspects are 24-years-old Abdulkareem Hamzat of old NEPA Road, Alaba Rago, Ojo and 20-years-old Nura Adamu of Karabosowa, Ojo.
The duo were caught in the possession of two (2) dagger knives, giant cutter, one cutlass, catapult and some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
In lieu of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the suspects be handed over to the Command’s Special Squad, Ikeja, for proper investigation.
He further appealed to the general public to beware and keep watch on strage faces in their various communities and relate closely with their Divisional Police Officers and local vigilantes as a measure to curb crimes and criminality in the state. CP Hakeem Odumosu has reaffirmed that the command will not rest on its oars in ensuring that adequate security is maintained in Lagos State.
