The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has held a strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to address police conducts in the state as well as other critical operational matters.

During the session, CP Jimoh issued a stern warning against extortion, harassment, human rights abuses, and the unprofessional act of name calling, particularly against youths. He reminded officers of their constitutional obligation to uphold the dignity of every citizen, stressing that crime prevention must be carried out with a human face without subjecting Nigerians to unnecessary hardship.

The Commissioner specifically cautioned officers against the unlawful practice of stopping youths on the road to search their phones. He reiterated that such actions are strictly prohibited except when the device is an exhibit in an established case under investigation. He emphasized that any phone search must be conducted within the police station and only in line with the law.Police

CP Jimoh also highlighted major achievements of the Lagos Police Command in the month under review, including the arrest of Samsideen Oladiti popularly known as Shameleon, linked to two violent crimes; Jude Onouha, a notorious vehicle vandal who disguised as security personnel to gain access into estates; and John Samuel, an ex-convict, armed robber and hired assassin arrested for armed robbery and attempted murder while dispossessing a victim of gold jewelry worth millions of naira.

These successes, according to the Commissioner, demonstrate the Lagos State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and safeguard lives and property. He called on residents to continue supporting the police by providing credible information to security agencies in their localities.
