The attention of the Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a video going viral on social media exposing some Police officers in Maroko Police Division extorting money from a citizen.
Peeved by the unprofessional conduct of the officers as captured/revealed in the video, CP Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the erring police officers should be identified and arrested immediately.
Accoding to the Lagos State Command PRO, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu in a statement made availableto Fasnews, in compliance with the CP’s directive, the four (4) police officers have been arrested and detained. They are currently facing disciplinary actions.
While condemning this inglorious act , the Police boss vows to deal decisively with any police officer found acting in such or other unprofessional manner in the Command.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has again demonstrated its avowed commitment to providing robust safety and protection for the good people of the state as a member of a notorious, dare- devil armed robbery gang was arrested in Bode Thomas area of Lagos on Wednesday, 1st of September around 11:30pm.
The 27-years-old suspect, Olawale Samsudeen was arrested when he and two (2) other members of his criminal gang attempted to rob a victim in his provisions shop at Eric Moore Close, Off Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas.
The victim, however, raised the alarm which attracted a police anti-crime patrol team on routine patrol in the area. The patrol team in a swift response, raced to the scene and with the assistance of members of the public arrested the suspect while two (2) others escaped with the gang’s operational motorcycle.
Items recovered from the arrested suspect includes a locally-made pistol and three (3) cartridges.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member of an armed gang terrorising residents of Bode Thomas, Surulere and other parts of the State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for further investigation and commended the quick response of the patrol team of the Division.
He also enjoins members of the public to have confidence in the police by giving prompt and reliable information at all times.
