In a significant victory against violent crime, the Kano State Police Command has apprehended Inuwa Zakari, known as “Gundura,” a notorious figure among criminals terrorizing the Kano metropolis.
The 24-year-old suspect, alongside 14 others, was arrested in a series of clearance operations conducted by the police between October 25 and 27, 2024, reports fasnewsng.com.
Gundura, listed among the Command’s most-wanted criminals, was identified as the assailant who conspired with others to attack a local Vigilante Commander, inflicting life-threatening injuries by severing his hand. The group also caused extensive damage to a police vehicle in a separate incident, further endangering public safety.
These arrests are part of a larger campaign led by Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, who directed all Tactical Commanders to launch aggressive anti-thuggery operations, conduct round-the-clock patrols, and expand intelligence-gathering efforts across the state. CP Garba’s mission emphasizes that violent activities and thuggery will not be tolerated in Kano.
The suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigations at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Following the investigations, they will be charged in court to face the full force of the law.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Kano for their continued support, CP Garba reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to nearby police stations or through the emergency numbers provided by the Command.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests in a statement, reiterating the police’s dedication to safeguarding Kano’s communities from criminal threats.
