The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its total readiness for the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, assuring citizens and stakeholders of a peaceful, transparent, and credible process.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the Commission’s state office in Awka, ahead of a major stakeholders’ meeting slated for Monday, November 3, 2025.
“Our responsibility is to the people of this nation. We are fully prepared to deliver an election that is fair, credible, and reflective of the people’s will,” Prof. Amupitan stated, urging political actors and security agencies to cooperate for a seamless exercise.
The INEC boss also cautioned against “attempts by vested interests to discredit the process,” stressing that the Commission remains resolute in upholding the integrity of the ballot and discharging its constitutional mandate without bias.
Providing an operational update, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, confirmed that all non-sensitive materials had been distributed across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas
.
She disclosed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) had been fully configured, tested, and certified ready for deployment, while generators had been positioned at critical locations to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
“We have left nothing to chance. From the training of personnel to the deployment of logistics, every detail has been covered to guarantee a credible, technology-driven election,” Agwu affirmed.
Prof. Amupitan emphasized that collaboration among political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the media remains the foundation of INEC’s credibility. “Transparency and partnership are the cornerstones of our process,” he added.
Accompanied by National Commissioners including Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, Malam Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Professor Abdullahi Zuru, Mr. Sam Olumekun, Prof. Sami Adam, Dr. Baba Bila, and Prof. Sunday Aja, the INEC Chairman also visited local offices in Oyi and Awka South LGAs to inspect final preparations.
Electoral Officers, Mrs. Olivia Nkem (Oyi) and Mrs. Ozoagu Chinyere (Awka South), led the delegation around their facilities, showcasing election materials already batched for onward distribution to Registration Areas.
The chairman directed that all materials must reach polling units by 7:00 a.m., with voting scheduled to commence promptly at 8:30 a.m., and results to be collated transparently in the presence of party agents, strictly aligned with BVAS data.
Prof. Amupitan reaffirmed that robust security measures have been instituted to safeguard personnel, voters, and election materials throughout the process.
With these assurances, INEC has sent a strong signal of its operational readiness, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of the Anambra 2025 Governorship Election.
