Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng, has unveiled an ambitious proposal to expand the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) into a multi-campus federal institution that would not only address land limitations but also spread development across Ogun East Senatorial District.
Speaking at the Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour of the BATOGD Movement in Ijebu North East, the former Ogun State Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the Federal Government’s takeover of TASUED, describing it as a “monumental achievement.”
He, however, noted that the main Ijagun campus, which occupies just 151 hectares, falls far short of the 10,000 hectares typically required for a federal university. To solve this, Daniel disclosed that his office has submitted a special proposal to establish four satellite campuses within a 30km radius of TASUED’s main site.
The proposed campuses include:
1. Skill Acquisition Mini-Campus at Okelugbogun
2. Conversion of GIPI (Oil Engineering Services) in Oni Waterside into a satellite campus
3. Artificial Intelligence & Innovation Mini-Campus at Illishan/Odogbolu
4. Health Sciences Mini-Campus at Ijebu-Ode
According to him, this expansion drive is not only strategic for academic growth but also symbolic, as Ijebu North East proudly hosts the family roots of the First Lady, Senator Mrs. Remi Tinubu. “Establishing these campuses is the least we can do in her honour,” Daniel said.
He appealed to the Ogun State Government for cooperation and support in ensuring the proposal becomes reality. “This is an opportunity to transform TASUED into a true federal university with a wider reach, and it will bring enormous socio-economic benefits to our communities,” he added.

With the plan, TASUED is set to move beyond its current limits, positioning itself as a centre of excellence in education, innovation, and skill development across Ogun State.
