Lagos State Police have arrested one Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu,a twenty-one (21)-years-old undergraduate student of the University of Lagos for the murder of Super TV Chief Executive Director and Director Super Network, Usifo Ataga on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
Narrating how Police tracked the suspect, CP Hakeem Odumosu said Chidinma was arrested at her parents’ residence in the Yaba area of the state on Wednesday, 23th of June around 9:00pm.
While parading the suspect yesterday, Thursday, 24th of June, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Odumosu mentioned that the suspect allegedly stabbed Usifo to death, changed her blood stained clothings, took his ATM card and left him in the pool of his blood.
Odumosu called on citizens to be careful and vigilant in romantic endeavours and other social expedition to avoid unnecessary sad tales.
Speaking to journalists at the Lagos Police Command, Odumosu noted that some unconfirmed viral information about the Lekki incident on how Usifo Ataga was murdered were far from the truth as the Command has Chidinma’s confession on tape.
The CP boss therefore urged the general public to seek clarification before going to media to break news.
The 300-level student of Mass Communication, in her narrative, disclosed that she had been in a romantic relationship with the late 50-years-old Usifo Ataga for about four (4) months before the ugly incident occurred on June 15, 2021, at a Service Apartment, situated at No 19, Adewale Oshin Street, Lekki, Phase 1, Lagos.
According to Chidinma, Ataga asked her to get an apartment which he paid for and they moved in on Sunday, June 13th after which they started taking alcohol and drugs such as skunk and loud and had a marathon sex till she stabbed him to death on Tuesday, 15th of June.
Chidinma said Usifo continuously had sex with her after she told him she exhausted. She also confirmed that she stabbed Ataga twice on the neck when he wanted to have his way forcefully again in the kitchen and later on his stomach when he also went for the same knife with the aim of stabbing her too on the bed.
She further confessed to withdrawing three hundred and eighty thousand naira (#380,000) from Ataga’s account via ATM, claiming that Ataga, before his death, after she complained of him not spending on her despite giving herself to him, willingly gave her his ATM card and pin just so he could have sex with her.
The suspect stated further that she lied to her parents that she was going for an ushering
job just so she could hangout with Usifo.
The Commissioner who promised due diligence on the matter added that a COVID-19 test has been conducted on Ataga’s body and the result will be out soon. He stressed that with the agreement of the family, the Command would carry out an autopsy.
