A housewife, Taofeek Iswat in Kugba area of Abeokuta, Ogun state have been arrested for allegedly torturing her brother in-law’s  son (namewitheld) to coma over a missing N5, 000.

The forty year old pregnant housewife allegedly committed the crime by inflicting serious injuries on the boy with a hot knife and cutlass with the aim of making him confess to stealing the missing money.

Confirming the incident, Ogun state public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the housewife dehumanized the twelve (12) year old boy who later fainted at the police station and was rushed to the hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

According to Oyeyemi , the suspect was arrested after one of her neighbors went to Adatan police station with the little boy whose body was full of injuries inflicted on him with a hot knife and cutlass, to lay complain about the maltreatment meted out to the boy by the housewife.

Oyeyemi stated further that on the strength of the report, Adatan Divisional Police Officer, Samuel Aladegoroye detailed his detectives to the housewife’s house where she was promptly arrested.

Upon interrogation, the pregnant housewife explained that the little boy is a son to her brother-in-law and has been living with her for awhile and that she had kept the sum of N5, 000 somewhere in the house but couldn’t find it.

The suspect, who said she believed that it was the boy that stole the money, confessed to putting a knife on fire until it was red hot and used it to burn the little boy all over his body but denied using cutlass on the poor little boy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward  Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the case to anti-human trafficking and child labor unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
