What started as a claimed medical trip for fibroid surgery ended in handcuffs for 43-year-old make-up artist, Adekoya Adebukonla Mary, who was aarrestedby the NDLEA at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 2.20 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the walls of her suitcase.

The dramatic arrest was carried out on Monday, June 16, 2025, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), acting on credible intelligence. Adekoya had successfully checked in her luggage and was moments away from boarding her Qatar Airways flight to India via Doha when she was intercepted.

Upon a meticulous search of her luggage, NDLEA officers discovered two large parcels of cocaine factory-fitted into the lining of her suitcase, a method commonly used by transnational drug syndicates. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to embarking on the mission for financial gain under the guise of traveling for a fibroid operation.

Investigations have since linked the operation to a notorious drug baron, Akeem Ayinde Adekanbi, the owner of Rockford Hotel in Sango, Ogun State, who reportedly resides in the Igbe Laara area of Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos. He is currently on the run.

In related developments, NDLEA operatives intensified their offensive across multiple states:
