The Enugu State Police Command has announced the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph, who was implicated in the murder of Ogene musician Chikezie Okezie Nwamba.
According to fasnewsng.com, the Inspector has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and will face prosecution, following the maximum penalty issued in line with the Police Act and Regulations 2020.
Inspector Joseph’s dismissal and court prosecution were recommended after an orderly room trial found him culpable. The recommendations were approved by the AIGP, Zone 13, which oversees Anambra and Enugu State Commands. Following his dismissal, Inspector Joseph was arraigned on October 28, 2024, at the Enugu East Magistrate Court on murder charges, where the Chief Magistrate ordered his remand at the Enugu Correctional Custodial Centre.

The case file has been sent to the Attorney General of Enugu State for further judicial review, with trial proceedings scheduled to resume on November 12, 2024.
Expressing his condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the deceased, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, acknowledged the community’s support during the investigation. CP Kanayo reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to accountability, ensuring that all officers are held responsible for their actions under his leadership.
