The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs with the arrest of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, as well as the recovery of dangerous weapons and stolen property across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence, on 12 September 2025, a team of operatives led by the DPO Ekpan, CSP Labe Joseph, arrested two suspects identified as Elvis Ebroghro (male, 36) and Abiola Adegore (male, 34), both residents of Ometan.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on 11 September 2025, the duo was sighted by a community security guard, Abdullahi Mohammed, while attempting to steal a vehicle battery. When challenged, the suspects allegedly threatened to kill him if he reported the incident.
Following Elvis Ebroghro’s confessional statement, police operatives intensified their investigation, which led to the arrest of another key suspect, Lucky Ebroghro. A follow-up operation uncovered one AK 47 rifle concealed inside an isolated building within Ometan Community and linked to the syndicate. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

On 8 September 2025, at about 0130 hours, the Command received a distress call reporting the kidnap of a young man (name withheld) from his residence in Ogwashi Uku. The kidnappers, after collecting a ransom of two million naira(#2,000,000,00), shot the victim in the leg for allegedly not providing more money.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, immediately deployed the Special Anti Kidnapping and Cyber Squad led by CSP Godwin Osadolor. The operatives stormed Ogwashi Uku bush, where they rescued the victim with a gunshot wound.
Subsequent intelligence led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka (male, 25) of Nenwe, Aniri LGA, Enugu State, and Uche Okechukwu (male) of Amaifeke, Orlu LGA, Imo State. They were apprehended along Owerri Road, Ndemili North LGA, Anambra State, and the victim’s white Venza SUV was recovered.
Their confessions enabled the arrest of another suspect, Somto Chukwuma(male, 18) of Ezea, Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, at Agidiase village, Ogwashi Uku. He led police operatives to another hideout where the syndicate’s Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration number RRT 331 AE and a sophisticated network jammer circuit device were recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the police operatives for their professionalism and resilience, reiterating that there will be no safe haven for criminals in Delta State.
