The attention of the Delta State Police Command has been drawn to a video making  round on various social media handles.

The video  captured Policemen attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Command assaulting a young man along the Asaba-Onitsha expressway. The Command condemns the act of the Policemen in totality.

In a statement by Delta State Police Image Maker, DSP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali after being briefed directed that the matter be investigated.

“The Command wishes to state that the incident occurred sometime in the month of Augus,  2021. CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA,  directed the incidence be investigated and the erring Policemen were found guilty of assault and were subjected to the force internal disciplinary mechanism after which they were adequately sanctioned,” DSP Edafe explained.
CP Ari Muhammed while condemning the wrongdoing of the officers, also urged members of the public to remain calm  and  assured them of the Command’s commitment in dealing with any officer who disregard the human right of any person.
To this end, members of the public are urged to call any of the following numbers and report cases of abuse to human rights or any other infractions by Policemen.
