In a bold move signaling Nigeria’s ascent in the global petrochemical value chain, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has inked an exclusive export partnership with Premier Product Marketing LLC, a Vinmar company, to distribute its newly launched Dangote Polypropylene brand beyond Africa’s borders.

This strategic alliance marks a milestone in the commercial rollout of polypropylene from Dangote’s multibillion-dollar integrated refinery and petrochemical complex, located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The deal with Vinmar, a global petrochemical distribution powerhouse, positions the group not just as a local industrial giant but as an emerging global player in polymer exports.

The refinery’s polypropylene line leverages INEOS’s trusted INNOVENE technology to deliver 77 grades of high-quality polypropylene, targeting versatile applications across packaging, automotive, textiles, and construction industries. With an annual production capacity of 900,000 metric tonnes and a projected turnover of \$1.2 billion, the facility stands as one of Africa’s most advanced petrochemical plants.

“This partnership is not just about market access, it’s about brand elevation,” said Hajiya Fatima Aliko Dangote, Group Executive Director (Commercial) of theGroup. “Dangote Polypropylene is poised to redefine global quality benchmarks, much like our cement and fertilizer have done.”Dangote

Vinmar’s CEO, Vishal Goradia, echoed that sentiment, highlighting a decades-long relationship with the Dangote Group in Nigeria. “This expansion of our partnership reflects mutual trust and a shared vision to deliver world-class materials to the international market.”

While global polypropylene demand is surging, particularly in Asia and North America, the Dangote-Vinmar alliance aims to capture a significant share by offering premium-grade products from a region historically known more for crude oil exports than finished petrochemical products.

Analysts see this development as a turning point in Nigeria’s industrial narrative, shifting from raw material exporter to value-added producer. It also represents a model for how African conglomerates can scale globally by marrying cutting-edge technology with strategic alliances.Dangote
