Dangote Refinery is on the brink of initiating production, having received the last one million barrels of Agbami crude from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited. 
The world’s largest single-train refinery is set to commence operations after completing the scheduled 6 million barrels consignment.
The journey started a month ago when Shell International Trading and Shipping Company delivered the first million barrels of Agbami crude.
Subsequently, Dangote Refinery received crude in batches, culminating in today’s discharge of the sixth batch at the Dangote Offshore Oil Terminal.
Managing Director of Dangote Ports Operations, Mr. Akin Omole, affirmed that the refinery will soon be operational upon full delivery of the 6 million barrels. The facility, designed for 100% Nigerian crude, will initially produce diesel, aviation fuel, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas, addressing fuel supply challenges in Nigeria and West African countries.
With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, Dangote Petroleum Refinery is not only tailored for Nigerian crude but also has the flexibility to process various African, Middle Eastern, and even US crude grades.
The refinery is poised to meet 100% of Nigeria’s refined product requirements, with a surplus available for export, heralding a significant milestone in the region’s energy landscape.
