The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), during its 60th Regular Meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, confirmed the appointments of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs (ACGs).

The meeting, which was chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, took place at the new corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Maitama, Abuja. This significant decision is aimed at reinforcing leadership within the Service to enhance its operations and efficiency.
The newly confirmed DCGs are OA Alajogun and KI Adeola. The five newly appointed ACGs are IG Umar, MM Tilley-Gyado, BA Makinde, OA Salefu, and T Bomodi. These appointments follow the statutory retirement of senior officers and adhere to the Federal Character Policy, as stipulated in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023. This ensures equitable representation of Nigeria’s diverse regions in the leadership of the NCS, fostering unity and fairness within the institution.
In a move to further bolster its modernization efforts, the NCSB also approved a key resolution from its 59th Regular Meeting held on May 14, 2024, to upgrade the ICT Unit to a full-fledged department. This strategic decision aligns with the Service’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital transformation, operational efficiency, and data management. The newly created ICT-Modernisation Department will play a pivotal role in driving these initiatives and positioning the NCS as a forward-thinking organization in line with global customs practices.Customs

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, congratulated the newly appointed DCGs and ACGs.
