Police has said its personnel alleged and identified in the shooting incident at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, have been taken into custody and are being investigated for their involvement in the incident.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba NPM, psc(+), fdc, who describes the circumstances surrounding the incident as unbelievable, has however condemned, in the strongest terms, the unfortunate incident.
Consequently, the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and forward his report as urgent as possible for further action.

Trouble was said to have started on 8th of June,2022 around 4:00am, when Burna Boy and five (5) police escorts visited Club Cubana in Victoria Island.
The musician was said to be in the VIP section with his friends when he spotted another woman (who was said to be with her hubby) and attempted to woo her. The lady’s husband was said to have been angry and told Burna Boy that it was disrespectful for any man to make advances at a married woman.

It was gathered that after a second attempt to woo the married woman, the matter degenerated and one of the Police personnel identified as Inspector Ibrahim opened fire, hitting a 27-year-old man named Lawrence and his friend Tolu in the process.
