A renewed wave of recognition swept through the Ogun State capital at the weekend as the Jamhiyat Nuur Somodany Al-Islamy Foundation (JANSAF) celebrated distinguished Muslims whose lifelong commitments continue to strengthen Islamic teachings and community development. The honours were part of the organisation’s 2025 Maolid Nabiyy celebration, a gathering that attracted prominent clerics, scholars, and dignitaries from across the region.

JANSAF, under the leadership of Fadilat Sheikh Al-Khaleefah Abdul-Qadri Ishola Olorunseye, hosted the well-attended ceremony which featured top Muslim scholars including the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Fadilat Sheikh Saadallah Alade Bamgbola, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Yewa North II, Hon. Harun Abdul-Wahab Egungbohun, and Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Hon. Akeem Amosun. JANSAF

The honoured awardees were Alhaji Abdul-Gafar Majekodunmi Olamilekan, Alhaji Muhammed Lukmon Olasunmomi Lawal, Fadilat Sheikh Sufiyan Babatunde Olamilekan Oyewole (Wazeer Faedot Tijaniya), Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Afuape Babatunde, Alhaji Moibi Olufondun, Alhaji Nurudeen Sanyaolu (Balogun Adeen Akepe Oluwa), Mr Ogunride Morufu, Engr Wasiu (Oluaye) and Alhaji Wasiu. They were commended for their steadfast service, moral leadership, and tireless contributions to the spread of Islamic knowledge.

In their separate sermons drawn from the Holy Quran, the guest speaker, Fadilat Sheikh Abdul-Rofiu Solahudeen (Al-Munfaluty), Fadilat Sheikh Abdul-Lateef Olorunseye, and other notable Islamic scholars expressed gratitude to Allah for sustaining the legacy of the late Sheikh Olorunseye through the leadership of Sheikh Abdul-Qadri Ishola Olorunseye. They described him as a beacon in the propagation of Islam whose investments in Arabic and Islamic education have shaped countless families, especially in Abeokuta.

Fathers of the day, Hon. Harun Abdul-Wahab Egungbohun and Hon. Akeem Amosun, along with mothers of the day, Alhaja (Chief) Habibat Shorunke, the Iya Suno of JANSAF, Alhaja Adeola Oluwabunmi, and Alhaja Misturah Ashani Oluwanishola, pledged their continued moral and financial support to the organisation and the advancement of Islamic values.JANSAF

The event also featured spiritually enriching presentations from learners of the JANSAF Arabic and Islamic Studies School, who delivered Quranic admonitions highlighting the importance of using knowledge, influence, and resources to advance the teachings of Islam.
