The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a remarkable revenue collection of ₦215 billion in August 2025, despite reported network hitches on its newly adopted Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly called B’Odogwu.
Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, described the feat as a product of resilience, increased confidence, and continuous improvement of the platform. He praised both officers and stakeholders for their unrelenting support in ensuring the system continues to grow despite challenges.
Olomu highlighted that the result reflects the patriotism of officers and the confidence of importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders, especially those who trade through the nation’s busiest port in Apapa.
He noted that recent stakeholder engagements personally led by the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, have further strengthened confidence in the homegrown ICT solution, which is aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s trade processes.
“The August collection confirms progress in our ongoing journey to build a dependable platform for trade in Nigeria,” Olomu said. “This is a collective victory for all of us, and we shall continue to march forward for greater successes in the days ahead. We are braving all odds, and the sky is our limit.”
The CAC disclosed that the Comptroller-General has also directed the ICT/Modernisation Department at the Service’s headquarters to provide stronger technical support for seamless service delivery, timely resolution of glitches, and improved efficiency.
With sustained improvements, stakeholders believe B’Odogwu is on the verge of breaking new ground and surpassing user expectations in Nigeria’s import, export, and excise operations.
