Under the community watch Torchlight briefing, our correspondent led our reporter to an identified male adult with a witheld identity. He was a friend to the wanted bisexual lady( Fashanu Omowunmi Elizabeth) who fled her homeland after her bi-sexual exposure, led to a series of devastating consequences for her and her family.
As gathered, Omowunmi was the third child in a family of six. She grew up in challenging circumstances, as her family struggled to make ends meet on limited incomes. Her bi-sexual orientation became a pivotal point in her life when she realized her attraction to women during her final year of secondary school while being close to her best friend named Olaitan.
After relocating to Abeokuta in 2005, Omowunmi lost contact with Olaitan but eventually moved on, making new friends. She pursued a degree in Business Administration at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, where she experienced genuine love in a relationship with Jumoke, a fellow student in the Mass Communication Department However, this relationship eventually led to her current predicament.
After completing her studies, Omowunmi enrolled in a two-year auxiliary nursing course, maintaining her relationship with Jumoke. The pressure from her parents to marry began to mount, but she could not confide in her family due to their religious beliefs. She then found work as a front desk officer at Multi-choice Nigeria from January 2017 to December 2020, followed by a supervisor role at M4 Hotel and Club in January 2021.
During her time at the hotel, she met Alfred, who would become her husband. The marriage was primarily a cover-up of her bi-sexual status for societal expectations, as Omowunmi had no emotional connection with Alfred, who worked as an officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps. Unbeknownst to Omowunmi, Alfred had a hidden life, with four children from two other women. Their relationship was far from ideal, as they maintained separate lives.
In August 2022, everything came crashing down when two women, claiming to be Alfred’s wife and her sister, stormed into their home, accusing Omowunmi of being a husband-snatcher and a gold-digger. This incident led to Omowunmi moving back to her parents’ house, where Alfred and his mother eventually pleaded for her return, claiming the situation had been resolved. However, on October 25, 2022, Alfred rushed her to his mother’s village in Ekiti State, showing her explicit pictures of her relationship with Jumoke, a confirmation of her bi-sexual status, that had been sent to their command office along with a petition for her arrest and prosecution.
Despite having confided in her husband about her bi-sexual orientation, the revelation of these pictures led to an arrest warrant being issued in her name, connected to his baby mama. Her family was visited and pressured to produce her, and local vigilantes were mobilized to find her. In a tragic turn of events, her father, already in poor health, died from the shock of the situation on December 6, 2022.
Fearing for her life, Omowunmi’s husband, Alfred, reached out to his uncle, Mr. Muritala Alade, who was also in hiding for political reasons, and a travel agent assisted her in leaving the country. In the end, Omowunmi had no choice but to flee Nigeria to escape the dire consequences of her bi-sexual revelations.
