The once-tranquil Aleke community in Lagos State has been plunged into chaos as residents face relentless attacks allegedly orchestrated by a notorious landgrabber, Abubakar Sulaiman Miyaki.
Since January 2, 2025, these attacks have forced many residents to flee their homes and abandon their farms, living in fear for their lives and properties.
In a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police on January 9, 2025, prominent families in the community accused Miyaki and his accomplice, Olamide Ganiu, also known as “Small Rainbow,” of leading armed thugs, cultists, and hoodlums to terrorize the area. Ganiu has reportedly been arrested, but the attacks continue unabated, according to the petitioners.

The petition details how, during the New Year celebrations, the assailants stormed Aleke village in a convoy of motorcycles and vehicles, accompanied by armed men dressed in mobile police uniforms. Armed with guns, cutlasses, and other dangerous weapons, the group allegedly destroyed properties, attacked residents, and ransacked the village.
“They started shooting sporadically, brandishing weapons, and attacking anyone in sight. They have plundered the village and stationed themselves here, continuing their illicit activities,” the petition reads.
Despite multiple reports to police formations in Lagos State, residents claim that logistical challenges have hindered any significant action by law enforcement.
Prince Jimoh Yinusa of the Onofaye Family pleaded with the government to intervene urgently. “These people invaded our community, claiming to be working for Akeja people in Imota. They want to take over our lands. Residents can no longer live peacefully or even visit their farms,” he said.
Another resident, Gbenga Onalesi, echoed these concerns. “Since January 2, Miyaki and his gang have been terrorizing us. They carry guns and other arms, making it unsafe for anyone to return to the village or the farms.”
The residents of Aleke are calling on the government and security agencies to act swiftly to restore peace and protect their lives and properties.
