Access Bank Tanzania, under the leadership of Chairman Protase Ishengoma, has presented the prestigious Power of 100 Africa Women Award to Her Excellency, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania, in honour of her transformational leadership and commitment to inclusive governance.

The award was conferred during a courtesy visit to the State House by the Board and Management of Access Bank Tanzania, who commended President Samia’s pivotal role in driving national and regional development.

Speaking at the presentation, Chairman Protase Ishengoma stated, “This award is a recognition of Your Excellency’s transformational leadership and your unwavering dedication to building an inclusive and prosperous Tanzania. We are honoured to present this on behalf of Access Bank Group.”

The Bank also used the opportunity to showcase its achievements since entering the Tanzanian market through its acquisition of African Banking Corporation (BancABC) in 2024 and Standard Chartered’s retail and SME portfolios in 2025. Notable milestones include:

 Total assets growing from TZS 270 billion to TZS 519 billion

Customer deposits increasing from TZS 173 billion to TZS 370 billion

Loan portfolio rising from TZS 160 billion to TZS 272 billion

Non-performing loans dropping from 4.3% to 3.7%

A turnaround from a TZS 2.4 billion loss to a TZS 1.6 billion profit in H1 2025Access Bank

Access Bank Tanzania highlighted its flagship initiatives such as the W-Initiative, Womenpreneur Pitch-a-Ton Africa, expanded agent banking services, and financial literacy campaigns including Global Money Week.
