Simultaneously, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings, clinched the THISDAY Titan of the Year award, cementing his legacy as a transformative figure in African banking.
At the prestigious THISDAY Awards 2025, held at the iconic Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos, Access Bank triumphed over African Export-Import (AFREXIM) Bank and United Bank for Africa (UBA) to claim the top honour. Celebrating these achievements, Managing Director and CEO Roosevelt Ogbonna attributed the success to years of resilience and innovation. “This award represents 30 years of hard work of doing things differently,” he said. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede’s recognition as THISDAY Titan of the Year highlighted his decades-long contribution to the financial sector. Reflecting on his journey, he recalled, “In 1991, Prince Obaigbena and I first met as customer and banker. He told me that anyone fortunate enough to manage his account would one day become a managing director of a bank. I am thankful that God fulfilled that vision.”
