The Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command attached to Ejigbo Division on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at about 10:00pm arrested four (4) suspects that gang raped a teenager (name withheld) in Ejigbo.

The mother of the victim, Tawa Abbey, of No 200, Mafo Bus Stop, Idimu Road, Ejigbo, reported the to the police that her daughter (name withheld) went to buy food at Lafenwa Street, Ejigbo when the boys attacked her daughter with dangerous weapons, threatened to kill her and forcefully raped her in a room at No. 33, Alhaji Obe Street, Ejigbo.

It was also gathered that the suspects that ganged raped the victim are seven (7) in number and that the parents of the victim were initially afraid to report the incidence because one of the suspects is a son to one of the Oba of Ejigbo chiefs.

According to the information made available to by Lagos Police Command Image Maker, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Divisional Police Officer, Ejigbo Division, mobilized his men to the scene where for (4) out of the seven (7) of the boys that ganged raped the victim were arrested.

The arrested suspected rapists are Jimoh Kamoru, 16, Lukman Basit, 16, Aleshinloye Sunday, 16 and Ifeoluwa Alabi, 16. Some items were recovered from them including cutlasses and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to go after the fleeing members of the group and intensify efforts in getting Ejigbo area rid of bad boys who are fond of attacking and gang raping innocent ladies and causing pains to them.

He reiterated the command’s zeal to work with other governmental agencies and interest groups in fighting against all sorts of social vices particularly rape, defilement and domestic violence.

The Commissioner of Police has also directed that the matter be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba for discreet Investigation and prosecution, while he assured the general public of justice in the case.

Similar incident happened last year in the same Ejigbo area when a 13-year-old minor, Favour Okechukwu was raped to death in September, 2020 but no update from police quarters till date.
