As part of its core mandate to promote youth activities, 3D Africa youth organization, a Pan-Africa youth focused group, celebrated the Africa Youth Week in accordance to the African Union Calendar, which celebrate Africa Youth Month, every November.

The Week which commenced on Monday, 22nd November had the Photo Contest, Youth Day of Service, Africa Youth Challenge, Africa Youth Conference and Africa Youth Icon Award as part of the major highlights of the week.
The Africa Youth Icon award is an initiative aimed at recognizing Africans who are making efforts in building young people for a better continent.
The award recognizes individuals in leadership, business, corporate settings, the communities, religious bodies, social spaces and organizations helping to shape the future of Africa by investing in youth development, skill growth, capacity building, advocacy and in diverse ways.
The Week had notable Africans like Prof.Patrick Utomi (Nigeria), Senator Shehu Sanni(Nigeria), Amb. Odion Okpevbholo(Nigeria) Javnyuy Joybert (Cameroon), Dr. Charles Sinkala (South Africa), Joanah Mamombe (Zimbabwe), Boniface Mwagi (Kenya),Karima Rhanem (Morocco), Prof. Tshilidzi Nenzhelele (South Africa), Mike Oladipo (Nigeria) and a host of others as part of the Speakers for the week.
Innocent Eneta, The President, of African Peace And Conflict Management Foundation (APACMF), who is also the publisher of Daily Global Newspaper Lagos, was honoured with the prestigious Award for his contribution to the society.
He was honoured alongside other high profile delegates across Africa, which includes Nigerians, South Africa’s, Kenyan, Ghanian, Cameroonian, etc.Week
The Executive Director of the organization, Mr. Olalekan Adeola Odusanya, said that the award is quite important and timely as more young people needs to be motivated to impact their community.
“The purposes of the award are clear. A major one is the fact that we want to motivate many young people to become committed in helping to transform the continent. We know this award achieve that. We believe that if young people are celebrated like this, it serves as an inspiration to others. Getting more youths involved will make development fast”.
Mr. Olalekan Adeola Odusanya highlighted some of the importance of the week and what it aims to achieve.
“The Africa Youth Week is a weeklong event that seeks to promote our culture, heritage, values, norms and vision. We want to celebrate African youths in grand style, knowing fully well that, Africa is a youthful continent and the youths are pivotal in driving the needed transformation.
“Our goal is to bring lots of young people together, empower, educate, equip them with various knowledge, skills that distinguishes them, bringing Africa, AU’s Agenda and the need for a better society close to them and also celebrate some who are doing exceptionally well”.
This year’s event was held virtually as over 1000 young people joined from over 28 countries for various programs held during the week.
