Ogun State police command have arrested a thirty-two (32) years-old suspect for Kidnapping and Raping a twenty-nine (29) year-old lady (Name withheld).
The suspect, Tunde Bello was arrested on Sunday, January 16, 2021 after a thorough intelligence team work by the Mowe police station of the Ogun state Police Command.
The victim had on September 17, 2020 reported at Mowe police station that while she was going to her office on that day, she boarded a Hyundai car driving by the suspect around 5:00am from Ogunrun road in Mowe to Lagos but on getting to Mowe junction, he made a detour to Ibadan road and drove her to a bush along Lagos-Ibadan express road where he beat her mercilessly before forcefully having carnal knowledge of her.
According to the victim, after raping her, the suspect held her hostage and ordered her to call her relations to send the sum of #140,000 to him as ransom before he will let her go.
Sensing that her life is seriously in grave danger, she had to call her brother who transferred #140,000 to her account and she in turn also transferred to an account given to her by her abductor before she was released.
Upon her report in September 2020, , the DPO Mowe Division, CSP Marvis Jayeola, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect with the view to get him arrested. The intelligence and technical based investigation embarked upon by the detectives’ yielded positive results when the suspect who has been under surveillance was apprehended on Sunday, January 16, 2021.
Tunde Bello during interrogation, confessed to the commission of the crime and he is presently assisting the police in the concluding part of their investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
